Description
Commonly known as African Mahogany, Khaya’s heartwood colour is varied, ranging from pale yellow to reddish brown, sometimes with streaks of medium to dark reddish-brown. It has large to very large pores with orange and brown deposits occasionally present. Fortunately, it’s very easy to work, glue and finish, despite the problems with tearing out with interlocked grains.
Common uses: Plywood, veneer, furniture, interior trimming, boat-building and turned items.
